Temporarily residing in the US, I am inspired by my varied impressions of New York: Like a magnet, Times Square attracts me again and again. It is there that I find the motifs for my paintings. The peculiar, almost unreal light created by the huge billboards fascinates me. People seem so unreal and inaccessible that the impressions of their loneliness and isolation seem tangible. And life there is hurried and restless. In my wide landscape paintings, I try to capture the details of that scenery.
